This is a manga that I thought that I'd never see. The art style is amazing in the fact that it doesn't simply make characters pretty, but it is very interesting to look at. Each character has an unique look, an interesting story, and it is something to behold. Some of their actions can be a little repetitive like their surprised expressions, the awkward comedic moments that seem forced in, and awkward poses. This is made up by the stories themselves. Each arc is rather interesting. I adore the villains, and it does touch on some issues that can be viewed in the real world. Slavery, racial prejudice, corrupted governments, and it doesn't even give the characters overly powerful attacks. You can either side with the Pirates (Which is kinda expected since they're the center characters) or the Government. There are cases of good and bad people in both categories which keep it from completely being biased.
Some people can be turned away from the art style, it's actually understandable, I mean I was put off at first. Some arcs can be a little bland and lengthy. There's not a whole lot I can think about other than these small negatives.
If you're a fan of shonen manga, you should absolutely read this. Don't mistake it for the 4Kids drivel, it's rather mature, and very entertaining. If you're not a fan of shonen manga, you should still take a look at the first few chapters, just to see if it is worth continuing. The art style is very entertaining and the characters express their emotions very... well. The most negative that can happen from reading a little of this, especially if you end up hating it is just an hour of your time.
